About WRASC

The West Rutland ATV Sportsman's Club was born from a group of atv riders that wanted to create a legal place to ride for all members of their group. They began with a contract with a private lumber company in the West Rutland, Ira, Middletown Springs, & Poultney Vermont area. They soon added areas in Danby as well. These trails are still currently in our club trail system to this day. Many are expanded and have grown to larger riding areas. New sets of trails have been added.

WRASC and a club from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont joined forces around 2001 to create The Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association (VASA). Notice VASA'S name and our club name - it is obvious where VASA got it's name from. These united clubs ideals were to create a state wide legal atv riding system that could be available to members across the state. It has grown to a group of 16 clubs under the state level club of VASA with over 800 miles of legal contracted atv trails on private land all over Vermont.

From our humble beginnings in 1998 to now WRASC has grown and changed. We have had growing pains along the way as all organizations do. But, we have now over 60 miles of trails under just our club's operation and are expanding each season with leads on more and more trails. We currently run 3 sets of trails. With riding from beginner/intermediate family riding to one area that is more expert riding. We have very little dirt road and most all rocky mountain riding or forested log trail riding. No boring riding here.

WRASC also hosts several rides and events throughout the season. We have done poker runs, raffle rides, candy hunts, potluck lunch rides, benefit rides, and also have participated in various parades and open houses at our regional dealerships and swap meets. Our riding season usually runs from April - Oct. Our trails open and close according to our landowner's specifications. So we encourage our members to check the website or Facebook to see if where they want to ride is open and if there is any important information for the riding areas posted. Trail opening and closing dates always are set according to current weather conditions to protect the landowner's property.
